Wet Exhaust
Fully water cooled exhaust system with dual chamber silencer
This fully water cooled exhaust system has the advantage of lower engine room temperature and predictable acoustics. The stainless steel high riser takes the gas well above waterline so the cooling water can be injected. Lloyds approved exhaust hose carries gas and water to a two stage GRP silencer, sound technology developed by Halyard over 20 years. A silicon bellows then connects the exhaust to an underwater outlet designed to draw the gas from the exhaust when the vessel achieves a given speed, with a bypass handling the entire gas and water flow when stationary or at low speed. Design of the outlet, to draw gas under way, is critical. Alternatively the exhaust gas can exit above water line, avoiding the need for an underwater outlet but offering less acoustic attenuation.
