FILAMENT WINDING

Halyard’s filament winding plant manufactures much more than GRP tube for marine exhaust systems and silencers. The company is the contracted supplier of bow thrust tube to many major manufacturers, including Lewmar and Quick Marine and additionally makes bespoke filament wound products such as rudder stock tubes and stern tubes. The image to the right shows wound epoxy flanged stern tubes for the RNLI’s state- of-the-art Tamar Class lifeboat, alongside tubes manufactured to hold rudder stock bearings for the same craft. Halyard can wind tubes in low volume to specific design, and machine these to achieve specific finished results, in either polyester or epoxy resins.
