EXHAUST SYSTEM ACCESSORIES
Exhaust Alert
If the raw water flow to the exhaust is cut off for any reason, the exhaust temperature will rise immediately to around 450°C, the exhaust will overheat and may be seriously damaged. Halyard’s Exhaust Alert will warn you before immediately the temperature in the system rises above 120°C, allowing you to shut down the system before serious damage occurs.
GRP Exhaust Tube
Halyard manufactures its own filament wound GRP tube for use in its silencers. Diameters from 50mm (2") upwards are made, ranging right through to a massive 600mm (24"). All tubes are made in 3m (10’) lengths. High temperature resins are used allowing normal operating temperatures of up to 80C, and brief exposure to temperatures as high as 300C will not cause a problem.
Fabricated GRP Sections & Bends
We fabricate tubular sections for exhaust and water on craft, and for many other applications both inside and outside the marine industry.
We make a full range of GRP bends and adaptors, all fabricated from our special high temperature GRP tube and designed to get you round 45, 90 and 180 degree bends, or to couple hoses of differing diameters.
Hot Lag Insulation
Hot lag insulation is designed to wrap hot pipes with a thermal insulator which is asbestos free, with a range of special clamps to hold it firmly and permanently in place.
Siphon Breakers
The siphon breaker plays a crucial role in a marine exhaust system, preventing the cooling water backing up into the engine when this is low in the hull. The Halyard unit is cast from bronze, and incorporates a tapping point for some cooling water to be drawn off to feed the stern tube bearings. Size details are given in our price list.
Noise Insulation
Halyard Noise Insulation has a unique multi-layer construction. Using three layers in addition to a protective facing Halyard Noise Insulation is able to provide three important functions. The absorption layer, to stop noise reverberating around the engine room. The transmission layer, a high density barrier that stops the sound travelling beyond the engine room. Finally the isolation layer, which cushions the transmission layer preventing the sound carrying through into the structure of the hull.
Hose Clamps
Halyard supply hose clamps to suit their entire range of MDE hose and silicon bellows.
