Champion joins Halyard as
Joint Managing Director

Christopher Champion has been appointed at Halyard as Joint MD, a role which he shares with company founder James Grazebrook. Chris joins the company in September, having completed an Executive MBA at London Business School.

Chris brings 11 years of blue chip organisational experience to Halyard. He previously worked with ExxonMobil Europe/Americas as a Senior Project Manager, where he was responsible for managing the rollout of Exxon's strategic retail pricing systems in the USA, Europe, South East Asia and Latin America. This involved designing, building and installing automated systems to analyse market conditions and guarantee that Exxon's pump prices were always competitive. His experience also includes operating as Senior Project Manager at Pioneer Investments, an Asset Management company in the city of London, where he developed a strategic integration layer between the firm's front office trading systems and back office management information systems, analysing flows of financial data and enabling rapid IT integration of acquired companies.

As joint MD at Halyard, Chris' experience handling specialist teams delivering high tech solutions to blue chip organisations will be invaluable. He says: "My experience enables me to understand the requirements of smaller companies supplying larger organisations. The marine market is growing rapidly, delivering specialist products to high net worth individuals, and we will ensure Halyard grows as a world class supplier, able to support our customers' requirements."

Halyard is the only company in the world to design and manufacture its exhaust silencer systems completely in-house. Its technical expertise was recognised in July 2006 when the company was awarded with the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. For silencing engines and exhausts, Halyard offers everything from complete engine and exhaust silencer systems, through to insulation materials.

James Grazebrook, Managing Director at Halyard says, "I am delighted to welcome Chris Champion to the team as joint MD. His global expertise and management skills will bring great benefit to the company and we look forward to introducing Chris to many of our customers, suppliers and users – many of whom he will meet at Southampton and Monaco."

Chris lives in Southampton, where he attended university, achieving a first class BEng honours in Electronic Engineering and winning the Douglas Lewin prize for outstanding achievement in the field of digital electronics. In 2005, he volunteered to work for Operation Raleigh, managing logistics for a 160 person, three month expedition in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. This involved organising teams, logistics, purchasing and equipment maintenance. He the led 15 students on a three week 180 km trek through the mountains and jungles of Costa Rica.
